Walk In London

Walk In London

(oehler)

Dinner in Soho
hotel in Hyde Park
See the city by the day
and nightlife after dark
Dance to club tracks
Eat vindaloo
All the plans we made
they went away with you

Will I ever go
Walking in London?
Or have all our plans
been undone?
There is little that I would rather do
than go walking in London with you

Mind the gap on the Circle Line
I’d like to take you there sometime
St. Paul’s cathedral
St. Martin-in-the-Fields
All the things you said
have they been repealed?

[chorus]

Things we said
The things I wanted
now they’re things
almost forgotten
My joy has gone
gone away it seems
it’s all come crashing down
crashing with my dreams…

[EO] This has nothing to do with the Concrete Blonde song of a similar name. I was in fact unaware of the CB song’s existence until it was pointed out to me. D’oh.

I wrote this song shortly before a trip to London. The activites therein closely mirror my itinerary (although my hotel was in Russell Square).

I’m proud that I was able to work the word “vindaloo” into a song. And it rhymes better than “murgh tikka masala.”

The backing guitar is by Heather O’Brien, albeith chopped and mangled by a sampler.
