Entwined
(oehler/goedken)
They say my life is over
When I thought it had just begun
They tell me happiness has ended
I see a lifetime to be won
I’m not going anywhere
I’m not leaving this behind
No one needs another care
Than to be blissfully entwined
And now you feel it
There is nothing we can’t survive
And now you feel it
Like the dreams in which we fly
Speak in the voice of a friend
Hearing angels whisper on
They embrace the story’s coming end
But there is a second race to run
I’m not saying any prayers
I’m not free to be confined
I’ve found no other care
Than to be intertwined
And now you know it
There is no force we can’t survive
And now you know it
Scale these heights as we defy
One more flicker, we go sky high
One more whisper, we go sky high
One more splinter, we go sky high
One more winter, we go sky high
One more fire, we go sky high
Hold me, unearth the whole
Holding pieces that fall apart
I am searching for higher goals
But there’s still blood inside this heart
[EO] I was desperately trying to write a Hybrid song.
The original cut of this was a brutal 7 and a half minutes long, featuring over 3 minutes of self-indulgent synth-wankery intro. Eric Goedken wisely convinced me to trim it back.
